Handmade Oak Bench Engraved with a Phrase – “Look For The Good”

A few words that make a difference

“Look For The Good” is the kind of phrase you want to see every day, so this customer had it carved into the backrest of their oak bench. Now it’s there every morning with a coffee and every evening in the last of the sun: a small reminder in the place they go to slow down.

A phrase bench turns a piece of garden furniture into something personal. Customers choose words that sum up their outlook, a saying a loved one always used, a line from a favourite song or poem, or a family motto passed down the generations.

Made for giving

An engraved phrase bench makes a thoughtful gift for a birthday, retirement or new home, or for someone who could use a little encouragement. It’s also popular with schools, care homes and community gardens looking for a positive message in a shared space.

Hand-carved by a skilled sculptor

Each engraving is carved by hand by an experienced sculptor whose work features in national parks. He works close to our workshop, so we plan every design with him in detail. The letters are cut deep into thick oak, so they won’t peel or fade.

Choose your phrase

• Any phrase, quote or motto (shorter phrases carve best on the backrest)
• A choice of lettering styles, or send us your own sketch
• Carved into the bench of your choice from our range of handmade oak benches

How to order

Email mail@therusticcompany.com with your wording and the bench you’d like. We’ll agree the design and price with you before carving begins. Engraving takes around 5 weeks.

About solid oak

These benches are made from very thick, natural oak, which moves with the seasons. Small cracks and splits will appear as the wood dries and takes on moisture. This is completely natural and doesn’t affect the bench’s strength.
