The bench

This compact two-seater has a shaped oak backrest and a crossed-leg frame that keeps it steady on grass or gravel. It’s the perfect size for a small garden, a patio corner or a spot under a favourite tree. Like all our benches, it’s made by hand from thick, solid oak, so no two are the same.

Hand-carved by a skilled sculptor

Every engraving is carved by hand by an experienced sculptor whose work features in national parks. He works close to our workshop, so we plan each design together in detail.

How to order

Choose a bench from our range of handmade oak benches, then email mail@therusticcompany.com with your initials and the date you need it by. We’ll agree the design and price with you before carving begins. Engraving takes around 5 weeks, so for Valentine’s Day, get in touch by early January.

About solid oak

These benches are made from very thick, natural oak, which moves with the seasons. Small cracks and splits will appear as the wood dries and takes on moisture. This is completely natural and doesn’t affect the bench’s strength.
